Corrects a slew of titles, buttons, labels, menu items and status bars
for capitalization, ellipses and punctuation.
Rewords a few actions and dialogs to use uniform language and
punctuation.
The pattern to construct `Application` was to use the `try_create`
method from the `C_OBJECT` macro. While being safe from an OOM
perspective, this method doesn't propagate errors from the constructor.
This patch make `Application` use the `C_OBJECT_ABSTRACT` and manually
define a `create` method that can bubble up errors from the
construction stage.
This commit also removes the ability to use `argc` and `argv` to
create an `Application`, only `Main`'s `Arguments` can be used.
From a user point of view, the patch renames `try_create` => `create`,
hence the huge number of modified files.
These icons are a relic of GLabel and were never implemented to
accomodate both image and text. This convenience can always be added
in the future, but no current instance assumes or needs it, so let's
replace them all with ImageWidget to show clearer intent.
This patch adds an additional control to KeyboardSettings allowing
the user to map Caps Lock to Ctrl. Previously, this was only possible
by writing to /sys/kernel/variables/caps_lock_to_ctrl.
Writing to /sys/kernel/variables/caps_lock_to_ctrl requires root
privileges, but KeyboardSettings will not attempt to elevate
the privilege of the user if they are not root. Instead, the
checkbox is rendered as un-editable.
This also removes DirIterator::error_string(), since the same strerror()
string will be included when you print the Error itself. Except in `ls`
which is still using fprintf() for now.
Rip that bandaid off!
This does the following, in one big, awkward jump:
- Replace all uses of `set_main_widget<Foo>()` with the `try` version.
- Remove `set_main_widget<Foo>()`.
- Rename the `try` version to just be `set_main_widget` because it's now
the only one.
The majority of places that call `set_main_widget<Foo>()` are inside
constructors, so this unfortunately gives us a big batch of new
`release_value_but_fixme_should_propagate_errors()` calls.
This will make it easier to support both string types at the same time
while we convert code, and tracking down remaining uses.
One big exception is Value::to_string() in LibJS, where the name is
dictated by the ToString AO.
We have a new, improved string type coming up in AK (OOM aware, no null
state), and while it's going to use UTF-8, the name UTF8String is a
mouthful - so let's free up the String name by renaming the existing
class.
Making the old one have an annoying name will hopefully also help with
quick adoption :^)
Otherwise, we end up propagating those dependencies into targets that
link against that library, which creates unnecessary link-time
dependencies.
Also included are changes to readd now missing dependencies to tools
that actually need them.
We previously put the generated headers in SOURCES, which did not mark
them as GENERATED (and did not produce a proper dependency).
This commit moves all generated headers into GENERATED_SOURCES, and
removes useless header SOURCES.
Each of these strings would previously rely on StringView's char const*
constructor overload, which would call __builtin_strlen on the string.
Since we now have operator ""sv, we can replace these with much simpler
versions. This opens the door to being able to remove
StringView(char const*).
No functional changes.
This commit has no behavior changes.
In particular, this does not fix any of the wrong uses of the previous
default parameter (which used to be 'false', meaning "only replace the
first occurence in the string"). It simply replaces the default uses by
String::replace(..., ReplaceMode::FirstOnly), leaving them incorrect.
Previously only the list of allowed keymaps could be modified and
applied to the system.
Add a new button to activate the selected keymap from the list. When
applying the changes to the system, also apply the active keymap.
In the Keymap Settings dialog, a check was missing when the Keymap
selection dialog was cancelled.
Not checking the return value causes an empty string to be added to
the keymap list.
I've attempted to handle the errors gracefully where it was clear how to
do so, and simple, but a lot of this was just adding
`release_value_but_fixme_should_propagate_errors()` in places.
pledge_domains() that takes only one String argument was specifically
added as a shortcut for pledging a single domain. So, it makes sense to
use singular here.
Now that the GML formatter is both perserving comments and also mostly
agrees to the existing GML style, it can be used to auto-format all the
GML files in the system. This commit does not only contain the scripts
for running the formatting on CI and the pre-commit hook, but also
initially formats all the existing GML files so that the hook is
successfull.
In order to propagate errors that occur during UI setup, we have to move
all that logic out of widget/window subclass constructors. This is a
first attempt at doing that, for GUI::SettingsWindow.
